Creating and Implementing Trauma-Informed Plans

The Creating and Implementing Trauma-Informed Plans training sessions offer participants an opportunity to understand the requirements for trauma-informed plans based on the components of the School Safety and Resilience Act (SSRA), and to create meaningful plans that will address the needs of the families and students they serve.  Registration is open only to school personnel working in a Kentucky school district. 

The training includes four, one-hour virtual sessions. Participants may choose to attend the sessions as a whole series, or only attend those that would benefit them the most. Sessions will be offered in February and repeated in September. Teams who are new to the process of creating and implementing trauma-informed plans, or new team members who are stepping into existing roles, are encouraged to attend all four sessions. 

During each session, participants will have the opportunity to seek guidance and feedback specific to their work. 

There is no charge to participate in the training sessions and materials are included. 

Participants will:

• Understand the components of the SSRA that are required in trauma-informed plans.
• Learn to map resources specific to each district and student population.
• Write measurable, actionable goals to move the district plan forward.
• Create a comprehensive plan to meet the requirements of the SSRA and support students and families impacted by trauma. 

Recommendations for participation: 

• Teams are encouraged but individual participants are welcome.
• Teams attending the training sessions should be comprised of at least two school or district staff who are directly involved in the creation of their plan.
• Schools and districts should grant release time to all team members attending sessions.
• Participants who are attending the virtual sessions should have coverage for normal duties and access to a webcam and microphone suitable for a virtual event.
