The UK Center on Trauma and Children collaborates with the Kentucky Department of Education to improve school climate through the integration of trauma informed care into schools throughout Kentucky. This is accomplished through a series of systems transformation projects designed to help participants learn and implement trauma informed practices to promote stabilization and recovery and reduce violence and maladaptive behavior in students affected by trauma. Participation in one of our initiatives will assist schools in meeting the requirements of the School Safety and Resiliency Act (Senate Bill 1/ KRS 158) that districts establish a trauma informed team and develop a plan for implementing a trauma-informed approach.
